Garlic Rice Recipe πΎπ§πΆ
Ingredients
For the Garlic Paste:
• π§ Crushed garlic
• πΆ 1 tsp red chili powder
• ✨ 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
• πΏ 1 tsp coriander powder
• π§ Salt to taste
• π§ Water, as needed
For the Rice:
• π’ 2 tbsp oil
• π± 1 tsp cumin seeds
• πΎ 1 tsp mustard seeds
• π A pinch of hing (asafoetida)
• π§ Prepared garlic paste
• π¦ Splash of water
• πΏ 1/2 tsp kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
• π 2 cups cooked rice
For Garnish:
• π§ Finely chopped garlic greens (lasun pat) or πΏ coriander leaves
Method
1. Prepare the Garlic Paste:
• π₯£ In a bowl, mix crushed garlic, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt, and water to form a smooth paste. Set aside.
2. Cook the Base:
• π₯ Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
• Add π± cumin seeds and πΎ mustard seeds, allowing them to crackle.
• Add π a pinch of hing for aroma.
3. Cook the Garlic Paste:
• π½ Lower the flame and add the prepared π§ garlic paste.
• Stir and cook until the paste releases its aroma and the oil separates.
• π¦ Add a splash of water if the mixture becomes too dry.
4. Combine with Rice:
• πΏ Sprinkle kasuri methi over the cooked paste and mix well.
• π Add the cooked rice to the pan and gently toss until the rice is evenly coated with the garlic mixture.
5. Garnish and Serve:
• π½ Transfer the garlic rice to a serving bowl.
• πΏ Garnish with chopped garlic greens or coriander leaves.
